This is not a weight-loss blog, although a good portion of it is.
It's a motivation for myself to be healthier. I want a longer, happier, healthier, and less stressful life, and this will be my way of keeping track of the progress.
I want to official claim this lifestyle before my one year anniversary with my boyfriend... which as of now is 137 days away.

Another place where you can also see updates, as well as tips, is at findaweigh.com

Vitamins and Supplements

If you have a life-style diet that prevents you from getting all your nutrients, you’re really hurting yourself. So to keep up your lifestyle, without breaking any personal moral or beliefs, but still get all the nutrients you need, you might want to look into taking vitamins and supplements.

I know that with my life-style diet I don’t get a lot of B vitamins and I don’t eat a lot of iron rich foods. So to make up for that I have to take supplements. But remember, it’s not a replacement for the foods, just an aid. You still need to eat healthy! Thinking you can just take supplements instead of eating and trying to lose weight that way is terribly bad for you. Please don’t do it.

You could either take a multivitamin like my boyfriend, or take just what you know you need. Be sure to do your research though (preferably talk to your physician first) on the different types, the amount you need, and the various differences, such a water soluble or fat soluble.

Cutting off VS. Cutting back

Typical fad diets want you to cut off [list yummy unhealthy foods here] complete. Then one of two things usually happen: (1) when you finally reach a point where you are pleased with yourself, you try to incorporate those foods again, and BAM! 20 lbs heavier and unhealthy again. or (2) You don’t even make it that far. Being without starches, sweets, sugars, etc, is so miserable to you, than you finally cave in, gorge on those forbidden foods, and your eating style returns.

Cutting off certain foods is not a pleasant way to diet, the best thing to do is just go for a lifestyle change and cut back on certain foods. For instance, is it really necessary to have a soda for every meal? Get a juice in the morning. Then once you get that in the habit, get some tea, water, or whatever other beverage that’s healthier for dinner. There you go, you’re already at just a soda a day, but don’t let that stop you. How about trade a soda every once in a while for a water (or whatever’s healthier)? So you still have the occasional soda, but it’s not a staple in your diet.

Cutting back instead of cutting off will help you from feeling like you have no options in your diet and will help you prevent relapse. Also, cutting back allows you to still get all your vitamins and nutrients as needed, but cutting off certain foods can lead to cutting off those nutrients all together. That can lead to worse problems than being overweight.

So remember, Cut back responsibly and reasonably.

Now I know certain lifestyle-diets require you to cut off certain foods all together, like having to eat Kosher foods or being a vegetarian. Well, in this case, do what you got to do! Cut those forbidden foods out, but don’t forget to find ways to get those nutrients you’re missing. [I’ll discuss this more in my next blog… Stay tuned!]

Sorry! But I was packing up to move, scale was gone, internet was gone, all that jazz.

But around that tuesday after I did weigh myself, and it was about 0.2lbs more :(

I predict I’m not going to lose much until next week, too much stress.

But hopefully next week I can start dropping lbs a bit more quickly.

1 lb in 1 week, even with eating fast food over the weekend. =]

Hopefully this weekend, with William’s stove working again, I can make my healthier version of fried rice and sesame chicken, instead of having to resort to fast food. I’m actually really excited.

I also came to terms with my courses and whatnot, and have been feeling less stressed about the upcoming term, especially since, if all goes well, i should be able to move in over a week early, and have some time for myself. =]

Perseverance

Perseverance. Key to a diet, a healthier life, etc. Ok, so you are on the right track, then all of a sudden you gain weight again or plateau. This is not the point to give up, it’s the point to analyze what went wrong while keeping up the healthy lifestyle. There’s no way you can get on the right track if you get off the track all together everytime you hit a slight bump. Going through with it until the end will be much much more rewarding.

So about the big gain since last week. I wasn’t able to exercise as much as I should, especially this past weekend. And starting on Friday, I ate more food, and fattier foods, than ever since I started this weight loss. Obviously I can’t afford a bad weekend. I need to work extra hard this week to get back on track, but there’s finals… so idk how that’s going to go… we’ll see.
